Nottawa Township Library Board Minutes
June 30, 2022
Cara Arver called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
Kathleen Brandon, Carmita Hunter, Bob Klar, Cara Arver, Mike Friesner and Carrie Brueck were present. Amber Troyer and Michelle Brokaw were absent.
Bob motioned to approve the agenda, second by Carmita, approved. Kathleen motioned to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, second by Carmita, approved.
The board discussed the financial reports. Bob motioned to accept the financial reports as presented, second by Kathleen, accepted.
The library is still on the schedule for improvements with Shetler with construction beginning after Summer Reading has completed. Carrie will have an update at the July meeting.
The board reviewed the Meeting Room policy submitted by Anne Seurynck from Foster Swift. A suggestion was made to contact Anne regarding the collecting of fees by instructors, tutors, etc. for classes or instruction not sponsored by - but hosted in the library’s rooms. Carrie will have her recommendation at the July meeting.
The audit report was briefly reviewed. Bob made a motion to accept the audit report as presented, second by Carmita.
The library budget for 2022-2023 was discussed. Carmita made a motion, with a second by Kathleen to move $20,000 from the general fund excess revenue of fiscal year 2020-2021 to the building improvement fund increasing that to $80,000, and set an expected income of $276,800 and expected expenses of 249,000 for 22-23. Carrie Brueck is the only employee not on the salary schedule. The board decided to increase her wage by 4% to $26.52 for 22-23.
The Director’s report was presented.
Carrie Brueck offered her resignation for 12-31-2022. A committee will be formed to look at hiring a new Library Director and possibly a Children’s Librarian.
Mike and Carrie made a plan to look into where the Lockport donation is for the 21-22 FY.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 25. A Doodle Poll will be taken to assure a quorum prior to the meeting date.
