Nottawa Township Library Board Minutes
January 25, 2024
Cara Arver called the meeting to order at 4:58 p.m.
Amber Troyer, Michelle Brokaw, Kathleen Brandon, Cara Arver, Timi Sloat, and Robert (Bob) Klar were present. Carmita Hunter was absent.
Kathleen motioned to approve the agenda, seconded by Michelle. A vote was held. The motion was approved.
Discussion was held on the minutes from the November 28, 2023 meeting. Kathleen motioned to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Michelle. A vote was held. The motion was approved.
Financial report was given by Timi. Bob motioned to accept the financial report as presented, seconded by Kathleen. A vote was held. The motion was approved.
Old Business:
Fiscal year 2022/2023 Audit: The audit is complete and bound copies were distributed. Board members are to review the audit and discuss at the next scheduled meeting. A Zoom presentation of the audit from Gabridge is available upon the board’s request..
New Business:
Two projects are being planned for the spring (2024). Timi is gathering estimates for driveway sealing and handicap ramp repair.
The Michigan Library Association is offering training that may be of interest to the board. On February 15, MLA will host a webinar titled, “Navigating Material Challenges for Library Trustees” Timi will email the details to the board members.
Bret Lutz, Nottawa Township Clerk, gave a brief overview of the 2024 Election cycle. Bret covered the timetable, procedures, and requirements of Library board candidates. Election forms were made available.
The November and December 2023 Director’s reports were given and discussed. The Christmas Open House was well attended.
Public Comment: Mike Friesner, representing Lockport Township spoke briefly. Mike informed the board that the Township of Lockport intends to renegotiate its library services contracts.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 18, 2024 at 4:00pm. Doodle Poll for quorum confirmation will be sent.
