Library Materials Loan Policy
Nottawa Township Library allows fiction, non-fiction, talking books, and back issues of magazines to be checked out for a two-week loan period. All items must be checked out under a valid library card. Items may be renewed in person or by phone if there are no pending reserves. The library does not charge overdue fees for these materials. Items can be returned in our drop box.
Current issues of magazines have a one-week loan period. Reference materials have either an "overnight" loan status or can be used only within the library. The library will make five (5) free copies from non-circulating items and five (5) free copies of reference materials from the Internet or online reference sources.
Movies have a one-week loan period and are limited to three (3) movies per household. The movies will be checked out under the adult's name. The adult may give permission for children in their household to check out movies without the adult being present. However, the library cannot restrict access to materials and it remains the adult's responsibility to approve the selection.
Movies that are overdue will be charged at $1.00 per day per video with the maximum charge being $10.00. Movies cannot be renewed. Movies can be returned in the drop box except when temperatures are below zero.
Borrowing privileges are restricted until all overdue items are returned,
replacement cost of damaged or lost items have been paid, and any fines are paid.
Items can be interloaned from other
libraries in Michigan who participate in MelCat. Patrons
must have no outstanding overdues or fines to use this service.
No more than five (5) items or one (1) fiction movie can be
interloaned at one time. There is no charge for this
service. However, the lending library is able to set an
overdue fine amount. At this time, Nottawa Township
Library does not participate in the Visiting Patron program.
